I'm
taking my ball and going home?
Do our jobs? Are
you kidding, we are democrats. If we can't win a vote we
will simply defy the entire legislative process and leave
the state we "were" sworn to serve.
Just to catch
everyone up on current events here, apparently 51 Texas
State democrats didn't like the idea of voting on
re-districting because they knew they were going to lose. So
they tuck tail and run away to Oklahoma dooming many bills
with their departure. That's a typical liberal for you,
can't win, so we'll just break the law and claim it was the
law's fault. After all they had no choice right? If a
majority of voters stock the state house with republicans it
must mean they want certain agenda. You don't see
conservatives in Massachusetts running every time there is
vote that they know won't go their way do you. And do you
know why? Morals! It's that easy boys and girls, Moral. Most
republicans have them, almost all Liberals don't! This is
just another case of crybaby democrats wanting to be in the
spotlight. And doing just about anything to get and stay
there. The people of Texas put you into office to do their
bidding. If 25% of Texans don't want something to happen and
75% do, should the 25% leave the state and not come back
until the majority caves into them? You spoiled rotten
liberal make me sick! When I had heard that 17 people
died in a trailer in Texas I was saddened to find out it
wasn't democrats. If being a gutless coward is what it takes
to be a liberal I think the Texas dumbocrats should receive
some sort of recognition for it.
Look at what
others had to say:

Don’t believe the Texas Democrats are ‘heroes’

I wanted to write to say that I
don’t believe that the Texas Democrats that ran on a
house vote are heroes.
In fact, I believe that they acted in a manner that
was irresponsible to an extremely childish degree.
This exodus was conducted much like the way a spoiled
child takes his ball and goes home after a game
doesn’t go their way.
Also this sets a dangerous precedent in that every
time a party feels it can’t win a political move, they
will just throw a monkey wrench in the system.
I don’t know the legality of what these individuals
did but do feel that it is a disgusting, cowardly act
and being a conservative would not vote my party if
they pulled this stunt and feel there should be some
ramifications.

Texas House Speaker Tom Craddick, who in January became
the first Republican to lead the state chamber in more than
130 years, blamed the meltdown on the Democrats.
"The Chicken D's that did this ought to be ashamed of
themselves today, and that's what they are, is a bunch of
Chicken D's," Craddick said. There is disgrace in running
and hiding, and I think that's what happened today.
Gov. Rick Perry said the lawmakers' actions were
"cowardly and childish" and would hold up important
legislation. "Their behavior is analogous to the pouting
child who doesn't like the way the game is going and stomps
off the field," Perry said in a written statement. "In my
nearly 20 years of public service, I have never seen such a
blatant abdication of responsibility."
Running scared?
But their opponents have taken to calling the Democrats
chickens.
In Texas, Republicans have developed an American idea
from Iraq and drawn up playing cards with the missing
Democrats faces on them.
Another pack of cards, another set of fugitives
|
Outside the Holiday Inn, Jeff Moreno stands with a small
group who accuse the lawmakers of ranking lower than only
Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein as fugitives from
American justice.
"It's very disappointing to see this child-like behaviour,"
says Mr Moreno, "I'm ashamed of them."
Let me know your thoughts.
