Then ask yourself, how how does a fundamentalist Christian social agenda, affect the ability of a secular person to live his or her life as they see fit?  I don't know about you, but I just love "Desparate Housewives," which would probably be banned if the religious right had its way.
 
The real threat to America is Christian fundamentalism, not liberalism or human secularism. Any kind of fundamentalism is dangerous because it implies an unwillingness to compromise. Life is not a zero sum game. Like it or not, societies exist because compromises are made every day.  A man is the sum of his compromises and so are a people.

The administration even admits it was to eliminate a threat to us. The action in Serbia was to protect the people of Serbia. GWB had a vendetta. He was wrong to handle it the way he did. Just accept it. All his actions did and are doing is creating more enemies of the US thereby endangering our lives. He needs to go and God willing we will be done with him Tuesday.

I don't have time to respond to every point (I need to get back to the
campaign.) Rest assured Thomas Jefferson would have been a political enemy of Bush's and would have aligned more with Kerry. The Republicans are no longer democrats (look at how they are trying to manipulate the vote...only the right people should vote in a Republicans mind...) First off, my politics are far more left-leaning than you, but rather than hate mail, I think I’ll just send you a few caveats with your opinion piece.

 Now to specifics:

 The worst president (generally agreed by both conservatives and liberals) was Warren Harding (http://www.multied.com/Bio/presidents/harding.html), Then there’s William Henry Harrison (That’s the guy who slaughtered Native American women and children as a publicity stunt), Taft, despite being a good Supreme court justice, later on, was plagued by scandals and his administration plagued by crime.  We’ve got General Grant, who ran a lame duck presidency from day one.  We’ve got Andrew Jackson who tried to give away federal property, including the Marine Commandant’s house, to pay off his poker debts (he also nearly bankrupted the government by throwing lavish parties for his friends and relatives).  We’ve got Nixon who used the FBI for political gain—one of the reasons the communication between the FBI and CIA have been so poor, is due to the restrictions placed on the FBI after Nixon’s disgrace. 

“He won the Hippie Nobel Peace price for the Camp David accords which forced Israel to give up land it won in a war in which it was simultaneously attacked by many Arab neighbors. If the shoe had been on the other foot those bastard Arab leaders would have kept the land indefinitely.”

Israel actually preemptively attacked in the 6 day war, but with admittedly good reason.  To do otherwise would have spelled disaster for Israel.  By returning the land, carter successfully negotiated for more open ties between Israel and her neighbors, including a warming between Egypt and Israel that reduced tensions between Israel (generally believed to be a nuclear power) and Egypt (Believed to be one of many nations that has stopped pursuing nuclear weapons).

 As to actual accomplishments:

He negotiated the peaceful surrender of Hati.

Carter denounced Noriega’s criminal election, the spur that gave Bush I the political support to oust him.

He’s the only person to ever be allowed to criticize Fidel Castro, with Castro’s permission, over Cuban public radio.  He did so in Spanish.

Carter’s group is responsible for being one of the most effective political watch-dog groups, in regards to foreign elections. 

Carter’s group’s participation and certification of the election results in Afghanistan brought several of the warlords who were prepared to pull out of the alliance that holds that country together, back to the table and back to acceptance of peaceful election results.

Carter’s support for Habitat for Humanity has built thousands of homes in this country.  These aren’t give away houses, the tenants of Habitat for Humanity requires the new owner to participate in construction of their house and the houses of others, and requires that they pay back the loan that was used to pay for the materials. 

Finally, while you rail against Carter’s failed presidency, I encourage you to look at the future for George Bush.  While his presidency has presided over the worst economic decline since the depression, the largest budget deficits in history, the largest bankruptcy rate, etcetera, at least the example of Jimmy Carter, would allow Bush II to do more after he left the office than his father did.  At least Carter is doing something positive, which is more than can be said for Clinton, Bush I, Ford, Nixon, Ike, Johnson, Truman, Hoover, or Reagan.   As it stands, Bush II could learn a lot from Carter’s actions post-Whitehouse, and support his conservative values beyond the bully-pulpit of the White house.

i was in total support of this military action in the beginning, but as time has worn on and the TRUTH is coming out little by little, i'm becoming more ashamed of what we've done. especially how we were spun from focusing on osam bin laden to sadam hussein. the most embarassing thing is that most americans think we're at war because iraq bombed the twin towers. most people didn't even notice the quick "switcharoo".

while i agree that we'd all be better off with iraq and all of its people dead, you just can't do those types of things under the guise of patriotism.

it's obvious day by day that bush had an agenda going in. fine. we'd probably all like to be rid of iraq. but, the way gained support and lies he told to accomplish his goals is loathsome. you can hate whoever you want, but when you send innocent young boys over there to die, you at least owe them the truth.

bush and his minions are selfish assholes. none of their sons are over there dying, so why should they give a shit.

if one death over there has occurred under the blemish of a lie, then it is not worth it. if we did not strike for reasons that were given to us and our objectives aren't what we've been led to believe, then, those deaths of our soldiers are in vain and for that, the administration should be completely ashamed.

the only time i condone war is when it's for the right reasons. 100%!!!!!!!
or, at least the reasons we were told. otherwise, it's technically murder of our young boys by their government.

i'll bet that most mothers of soldiers in american right now would rather bush had gotten an adulteress blow-job than to have sent their sons to fight and die so he could avenge his father and all of his oil buddy's interests.

wouldn't you if you were given the choice between the two?

and, under the current administrations bullshit rhetoric and their biggest supporters being the religious right, charlie isn't allowed membership to this elite club.

But let me remind alot of people that many have been one beer, one joint, or one pill away from being were she is! People are senselessly murdered everyday in some way shape or form, and thanks to mass media, we only hear what they want us to hear. We only hear about the stories that are going to cause the race card to be played. When are we as Americans going to say all death is the same and not see color! I recently watched a court case with a young teenage white boy who was dui and killed his passenger friend and tried to get people to lie and say he wasn't the driver and he got off with a couple of years. How many people out there know that story? Very few I'm sure. We hear what we want and see what we want and how we want to see. Is there really any difference in the case. He left his friend there on hte roadside to die. We throw the book at her and look at him say how pitiful. He is so remorseful. HA HA! Rehabilatate the whites and execute blacks! It's 2003 and we still see everything in black and white. Maybe if there is another terrorist actions, we'll all be one again and forget about the color. It is a shame that it takes national tragedy
